Instructions

Heat the oven to 180C and line two baking trays with parchment.

Beat the softened butter with both sugars until light and creamy.

Beat in the egg and vanilla.

Fold in the flour, bicarbonate of soda and a pinch of salt, then stir through the chocolate chips.

Roll walnut-size balls of dough and space them well apart on the trays, flattening slightly.

Bake for 10-12 minutes until golden at the edges but still soft in the middle. Cool on the tray for 5 minutes before transferring to a rack.
